Over the years, I've wondered what we can do to fix our schools, of course, I am hardly alone. This issue comes up every election local, state and federal. We already spend more per student than any other nation - but what do we have to really show for it. I'd like to discuss a little teaching philosophy with you, if you have a moment. I'd like to talk about mentoring vs teaching.
You see, I've always noted that when I help mentor someone, I am learning too, in fact, sometimes the mentor, instructor, teacher, professor gets more out of the process than the student - there are many reasons for this. So, yes, I fully agree with some experts who comment about creating an equal footing between teacher and student, provided the behavior in the classroom doesn't usurp the process
